Guided Fishing Tours
Bass can be caught all year your , however the best season is between September and April each year. Trout can be caught in highland streams all year round but fishing season restrictions do apply
Fishing tours are conducted using canoes (provided). Depending on river levels and the time of year. Bass fishing tours will either:-
a) Start from Bass lodge , proceeding westward on the Macleay river toward the property of Flying Fox. You will be picked up and escorted back to Bass Lodge on completion by vehicle.
b) Starting from Bass lodge you will be escorted by 4WD eastward on the Macleay river toward Kunderang station. This will involve several river crossings (only possible when river is at normal or low levels). You will proceed via canoe (following the current) finishing at Bass Lodge.
Packed lunches are provided. Canoe trips are limited to a maximum of 6 people. Larger groups may be accommodated with an additional guide.
4WD & Sightseeing Adventures
Home to some of the most spectacularly rugged country in Australia, the Upper Macleay provides a wealth of opportunity for 4WD enthusiasts.
Your tour guide is Jon Gallatley who is a great bloke who is more than willing to go the extra mile to give you the best experiences.
Guided tours accommodate up to 5 people and provide an exhilarating experience and sense of adventures. The 1/2 day and full day tours take in many of the sites shown in our activities web page. Suggested tours include the following.
1/2 Day tour
4WD through Styx River National Park and then to Wollomombi to take in the spectacular Wollomombi falls (2nd highest waterfall in Australia). You may stop at Wollomombi General Store for a supplies, a quick drink (licensed) or refreshments before returning (dropping nearly 1000m in elevation) to Bass Lodge.
Full Day Tour
4WD through Styx National Park to Point Lookout to take in one of the most magnificent views to the coast (looking down over 1000m of the ranges). Continue to the Dutton Trout Hatchery for lunch. Continue onto the spectacular Ebor falls and then to the Wollomombi falls. You may stop at Wollomombi General Store for a supplies, a quick drink (licensed) or refreshments before returning (dropping nearly 1000m in elevation) to Bass Lodge.
